How to Throw a Vegan Party in NYC!
Serena turned one!! I can’t believe I’m writing this my friends…It was such an amazing ride, the best and the hardest year of my life for sure! Celebrating her life was so important to me and I really wanted to make something cute, she only turns 1 once so I thought about a theme, the food, the guests…. And everything went so well! She had a blast and we were surrounded by close friends and family.
And of course I had to put a blog post together featuring some of the amazing vendors who helped us bring this beautiful day to life with colors, flavor and love! Shall we?

Cake
Perhaps the best vegan birthday cake in NYC? We’ve tried cakes from different companies before but Serena’s birthday was such a big deal so we went with Plant Baked Cakes! We had a vanilla cake with strawberry filling and it was good. I saved some and ate throughout the week, it was even better cold haha! I highly recommend Mike, he is an artist and brought my vision to life in a form of a beautiful cake!
Doughnuts
Call me the crazy doughnut lady! There are sooo many options in the market but I love both Dun-well Doughnuts or Dough Doughnuts.
Cupcakes and cookies
The birthday party theme was ducklings and rainbow so we mixed them together and that’s the decor you see in the photos! The cupcakes and the cookies are from No Harm, No Fowl!So yummy!
Decor
Well, Sweet Garden Creations by Gislene isn’t vegan but she can help you with different things besides the beautiful decoration. She helped me with the marshmallow pops last year for example, she made the using dairy-free chocolate.
Hot Dog!
Yes, hot dogs! This is one of my favorite party snacks and I couldn’t leave it out! And this one from Lightlife is my favorite! My guests were sooo impressed with how real it tasted that I can’t wait to have another party and share more of all delicious vegan options we have available in the market these days!
Brigadeiro
Another Brazilian favorite that is easy to make! Mix one can of vegan condensed milk (I used coconut condensed milk and bought them from Amazon.com), two spoons of cocoa (any dairy free powder or chocolate bar will do), one spoon of vegan vegetable spread/butter. Mix everything in a pan over medium-low heat until you see the bottom of the pan clearly. Let it cool and put it in the fridge for a few hours or overnight. Grab a tea spoon and scoop the brigadeiro and roll them into little balls and cover in sprinkles. Since I use coconut milk, try not to make this recipe in a warm environment or the it will get a little messy since coconut and heat aren’t best friends so the brigadeiros might melt faster than desired.
And that’s it! You can serve in cups like this ones below or eat it whatever you like! I also love eating straight from the pan, it’s a Brazilian thing!
Chips!
I looove chips, quacamole, mild salsa…all the classics! But some chips are more flavorful than other and my favorite ones are from Beanfields!
You ca usually find them at most grocery stores and natural markets!
