Whenever I share a rooftop bar on my instagram stories ( @marthasachser ) I get so many questions about my favorite ones in the city! So here it is, one of the most requested posts: my favorite rooftops bars in NYC! Enjoy!
Know before you go
- Rooftop bars are are but drinks and food tend to cost more than at a conventional bar
- You must be 21 or older to get in but there are a few rooftop bars where kids are allowed and some might allow kids at certain hours during the day, I recommend calling to confirm.
- Dress code: they are usually more flexible in some than others and also during the summer. A few rooftop bars are pickier about the dress code so make sure you check the official web sites. No time to check? Avoid flip-flops or running shoes/sneakers.
- In the warmers months expect to wait in line to get in, especially from Thursday-Saturday nights
- Always bring your ID and credit card. Most rooftop bars allow international IDs but I recommend bringing your passport to avoid any problems
- Not all rooftop bars offer enough tables so expect to be stand or find a seat throughout the night. I recommend checking their website to find out if a reservation in necessary
- Some might charge upfront if you wanna book a table
- Most rooftop bars are open year round and offer indoor and outdoor spaces and even heaters
- Most rooftop bars open only around 4-5PM
