There’s something incredibly special about photographing families—those in-between moments, the laughter that bubbles up unexpectedly, the quiet way a parent looks at their child. This recent mommy and me session in Long Island City, right here in New York was the perfect reminder of why I’m so drawn to these moments. With the Manhattan skyline stretching across the horizon and the somewhat soft light reflecting off the East River, the waterfront created a backdrop that felt both vibrant and intimate. Long Island City has this unique energy—modern and lively, yet peaceful in pockets—that makes it ideal for a relaxed, candid family shoot.

We wandered along the waterfront, letting him lead the way, stopping whenever something caught his attention. Those are always the best sessions—the ones that aren’t rushed or overly posed, where everyone can just be themselves. Whether it was a shared laugh, a spontaneous hug, or a quiet moment watching the boats go by, every frame told a piece of their story.
