Where to Stay in Oahu ~Waikiki Malia Hotel
It’s no secret that Oahu is my favorite place in the world and whenever I’m on the island I try to stay in Waikiki. This time we stayed at the beautiful Waikiki Malia hotel (@waikikimalia), located in the heart of Waikiki and with all the amenities we needed to make our stay on Oahu the best possible.
Our room
We stayed in a two double bed suite with a balcony overlooking the city and the ocean on the 15th floor. The room was pretty spacious for us and it included a small fridge (they gladly added a bigger fridge so we could store more food items for Serena – yes, it is still a challenge to feed her when traveling lol).
We also requested a crib and that worked great for us, I was worried she wouldn’t adapt quickly but the older she gets, the easier it is now – the hotel also offers studio rooms, perfect for those traveling with small children or for those who need a full kitchen.
Amenities
The hotel had everything we needed: a jacuzzi, pool, gym and even laundry. There is also parking available (Self Parking is $35 per day plus tax. This includes unlimited in/out privileges and based on availability. Parking entrance is located on Lewers street.). There is also an amenity fee, very common in Oahu hotels (well, I feel like most hotels these days in the US, right?) of U$30 plus taxes per day per room. What is included: Waikiki Malia drawstring bag per room, 2 bottles of Mananalu pure water in reusable aluminum bottle, High speed WiFi, in room coffee and tea, long distance phone calls (U.S. and Canada Only) up to 15 minutes, access to fitness center, use of beach towels, access to pool (not heated though) and hot tub, onsite guest activities.
I loved that on Fridays they offer fun activities for guests including lei making class and free ice cream! The staff was super friendly and helped us make our first lei necklace.
Location
The hotel is located in the heart of Waikiki, walking distance to the beach and some of my favorite spots, such as the beautiful International Marketplace, the Royal Hawaiian Center and other iconic restaurants and shops! I woke up everyday to run on the beach and ended the morning with an açai bowl at the Sunrise Shack and just walked back to the hotel for a relaxing time in the pool and jacuzzi.
There are also several bus lines that stop in front of the hotel or less than one block away, including the line to airport.
The famous Waikiki Trolley also has a stop close by and takes you to different parts of the island.
When it comes to food, Waikiki never disappoints and there are great spots to eat, from pizza and açaí bowls, to ramen and coffee shops, steps from the hotel. Check their instagram (@waikikimalia) for some awesome recommendations.
Overall we had a great time in Waikiki staying at the Waikiki Malia Hotel. The staff was very friendly, you can feel the aloha spirit as soon as you walk in!
If you are looking for comfort, hospitality and great location, I highly recommend staying at the Waikiki Malia Hotel. Feel free to DM on instagram me with any questions you may have about Oahu and I’ll do my best to help!
