9 Places to photograph in Brooklyn!

9 Places to photograph in Brooklyn!

As I always say, there is more to New York than Manhattan. The city has incredible places to visit and, of course, to take great photos.

In today’s post, I’ll share some of the best places to photograph in Brooklyn, which is one of the most charming and modern boroughs in New York and one of my client’s top 3 locations for photo shoots when traveling to NYC.

Oh, before I forget…If you would like to book a photo session with me or one of my associate photographers, DM me on @fotografaemnovayork!

Here are some places to photograph in Brooklyn:

1. Brooklyn Bridge

The Brooklyn Bridge is must see spot for anyone visiting New York. With its imposing towers and views of the entire city, the bridge can be photographed in so many creative ways and points of view.

The first option is from the bridge itself, with the towers filling the frame. To do this, you should get closer to the central area where the cables connect to the bridge.

Another way to photograph the bridge is from Brooklyn Bridge Park, where you can capture the East River, the buildings of Manhattan, and practically the entire length of the bridge.

2. Brooklyn Bridge Park

Brooklyn Bridge Park, located in DUMBO, stretches along the waterfront, providing the best views of the Manhattan skyline, as well as several piers with various activities for the entire family.

This used to be an industrial area between the 19th and 20th centuries, you can still find some of the boat docking pilings on some of the piers, which add an incredible visual element to your photos.

You can also take pictures on the pebble beach, on the surrounding rocks, on the lush green lawn, and, as mentioned in the previous point, with the imposing Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan Bridge in the background!

3. Jane’s Carousel

It is impossible to talk about Brooklyn Bridge Park without mentioning the century-old Jane’s Carousel. This beautiful and retro wooden carousel was restored by artists David and Jane Walentas in a 22-year-long project. It features 48 beautifully carved wooden horses and two magnificent carriages. Undoubtedly, it is a piece of Brooklyn that should not be missed on your Instagram feed. You ca take photos in front if it or on it. Tickets cost only U$2 per ride and I highly recommend checking their website for hours of operation or updates on their schedule.

4. View of the Manhattan Bridge in DUMBO

Considered one of the most Instagrammable spots in Brooklyn, the view of the Manhattan Bridge, captured on Washington Street, began to gain fame when it appeared in the 1984 film “Once Upon a Time in America.” Nowadays, it is often said that you haven’t truly visited DUMBO if you haven’t taken that famous photo!

The classic view of the Manhattan Bridge is at the intersection of Washington and Water Streets, but you can capture the bridge from other places nearby as well, like this one below.

Without a doubt, it is one of the best places to photograph in Brooklyn.

5. Brooklyn Botanic Garden

It’s easy to spend hours exploring and taking many photos at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

The garden offers a wide variety of beautiful spots, but the one considered by many as the most beautiful is the Lily Pool Terrace, with two large pools featuring beautiful water lilies and lotus flowers. The place becomes even more stunning during spring. Click HERE to visit the website.

6 . Valentino Pier

Valentino Pier, located in the Red Hook district, offers an unobstructed view to enjoy the city’s sunset without any towering skyscrapers blocking the sight. Additionally, it boasts perhaps the best view of the Statue of Liberty, as the sun sets right behind it, creating an incredible and Instagrammable visual.

7. Grand Army Plaza Memorial Arch

Also known by many as New York’s version of the Arc de Triomphe, this monument located in Prospect Park pays tribute to American soldiers and sailors.

It’s right outside Prospect Park, which is a beautiful and huge park in Brooklyn.

8. Boathouse – Prospect Park Lake

Built in 1905 and made famous by its appearance in Martin Scorsese’s film “The Age of Innocence,” this beautiful boathouse was one of the first buildings in New York to be designated as a historic landmark.

The structure offers views of the lake and the park’s bridge, creating a very romantic natural setting.

It’s a unique place to capture photographs in Brooklyn!

9. Domino Park

Another spot in Brooklyn that shouldn’t be missed. The view itself may not be the closest to Manhattan, but the overall experience is delightful and highly recommended! To get to Domino Park, I suggest taking the NYC Ferry; the experience is enjoyable and costs only $4.00.
