Escaping NYC: our weekend at the famous Mohegan Sun

A couple weeks ago Ryu and I were able to escape NYC and stay at and explore the famous Mohegan Sun, one of the top entertainment, dining and gaming destinations in the US. Some of you have actually told me that I should pay a visit to the resort so I was thrilled to be invited by them to spend the weekend there and see all it has to offer.

Mohegan Sun is located in Connecticut and you can get there by bus, Amtrak, Metro North + Bus or of course, driving. We chose the bus on the way there, we decided to take Grey Hound, which takes longer, since there are a few stops on the way. If you are looking for a cheaper and more direct route, you can check the Chinese bus lines, they run from Flushing and Manhattan to Mohegan Sun. You can use Google Chrome to check the official website HERE.  You can see the time table and purchase tickets at the bus stop or confirm if there are tickets available by phone. For all the other transportation options, click HERE!

The resort lobby is beautiful and the moment you step in you feel like you’re on vacation, which is exactly the vibe we were going for. The decoration, the sounds and everything invites you to relax and also get excited about the next days you will spend there.

This is the main common area where you have access to different cassinos, restaurants and shops and also the hotel lobby. I took more pictures than I can count, it is beautiful!

Our room!

We were given a beautiful standard room on a top floor. The room was very comfortable with all the amenities we needed to relax and enjoy the weekend. I took some photos so you can have a better idea of what to expect. We had a great time.

Amenities

Well, I am a huge fan of swimming pools and this one didn’t disappoint. There was also a swirl pool, oh my, that was good and  so relaxing! Ah! There is also adult only hours as well.

Casinos

Well, another day trying to get lucky in the game but no success. But it sure was fun! There are plenty of slot machines and big money tables but we decided to stick with the 0.1$ machines for the fun of it!

Entertainment

At Mohegan Sun you will never be bored. There is always something going on, especially at their famous arena where big names perform all year long. Apart from the casinos and the pool, we had the chance to watch a lacrosse game for the first time. It was so much fun especially because the New England Black Wolves were playing, the Mohegan Sun team. We also had the chance to take a backstage tour and seat on the first row so the experience was even better!

Dining

There are many restaurants and spots for quick bite in the resort. We were able to try some nice restaurants, I completely forgot to write down all the names but everything was pretty good. Since I’m vegan I decided to go to the buffet twice, since there are more options available. But te Japanese restaurant near the lobby didn’t disappoint either!
