Our days in Phuket: where we stayed and what we did!
Choosing the right location is key to make your trip to Thailand more memorable. And I’m soo so glad we chose it right! We stayed at Proud Phuket, this beautiful and super affordable hotel with the most friendly and welcoming staff. I seriously wanted to cancel all my plans for Phuket and spend all my days at the hotel, we felt at home and the place is so freaking beautiful that I would be happy to do just that!
Our room
This was the cherry on top! Proud Phuket has those amazing rooms with pool access right outside the door. Like, literally. Outside, right there. I wasn’t smart enough to take a photo of me outside the room and getting in the pool in less than 3 steps, but I hope you get an idea with this photo:

See the pool? Our room was right there on the bottom left (where the light is)
We booked the superior pool access room and it was super clean, bright and with a nice bathtub facing the bedroom plus a private restroom and shower room, in case you needed more privacy. There was everything we needed right there: water, snacks, hairdryer, bath robes, room service menu, toiletries… It was truly perfect! You can see all the room options and prices here.
Buffet Style – Breakfast With a View
Omelet bar, endless breads and pastries, juices, cereal, meats, veggies and fruits were some of the items we found at their amazing buffet. So if you are looking for traditional Thai or western style breakfast, they have it all. The location couldn’t be better, the restaurant faces the pool and the always beautiful day in Phuket.
Services and experiences
At Proud Phuket we really felt like we were on vacation for real! The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They were also great at helping us plan our trip the best possible way! But our first stop in Phuket was actually the hotel’s spa! OMG, that was a real Thai massage! We’ve had a massage in Chiang Mai and it was nothing compared to the one at Proud Phuket. Make sure to schedule a time for you to really relax and feel refreshed! They have private rooms (perfect for me and my friend) or larger rooms like this one below. The spa offers different services but we only booked the massage since we didn’t have too much time. You can see a list of all the services and prices here!
The hotel also offers a picnic set (food, utensils and cloth) and they can drive you to the beach so you can enjoy it with a view at sunset! It was one of the best experiences we had! Another thing we did was waking up early to offer food and flowers to local monks. The hotel prepares everything and they drive you to the temple area where you get to offer the food and the monk offers you a prayer. I don’t have a picture of that particular moment but here is a cute one of me, Karla and a friend we made at the hotel and she joined us that morning to explore the temples after the offering. Those experiences are paid but nothing crazy and you can find and schedule them at check-in or contact them before you arrive.

The surroundings
The hotel is located less than 10 minutes from the Phuket International Airport by car and a taxi shouldn’t cost you more than 300 Bath. If you enjoy walking, Nahyang beach and Sirinat National Park are less than 15 minutes away. Nahyang beach is peaceful and has a local vibe, so we got to enjoy the real Phuket and eat some delicious Thai food. On the street in front of the hotel you will find restaurants and some shops (there are two 7 Eleven!) but walking towards the beach you find even more options and you will get a real feeling of the area, which has a super local vibe and not crowded with tourists. There was also a street market around the block from the hotel which we didn’t have time to go but seemed pretty cool to buy souvenirs and other traditional Thai food. The hotel also has its own restaurant which is open to the public and serves a variety of Thai dishes as well as burgers, pasta, salads, sweets and much more. There is an all you can eat buffet on Fridays for 590 baht per person, unfortunately we were so full that we couldn’t join them and I still regret it so make sure to leave some room for it! If you wanna grab some drinks, stop by the hotel’s rooftop. We didn’t have the chance to enjoy it as much as we wanted so do us a favor and send me photos of you there.

Day trips
On our second day in Phuket the hotel helped us find a day tour (that accepted payment in credit card) to some nearby islands and we found a great one! We went to the famous James Bond Island, which was just a stop for photos and souvenir shopping, we didn’t get to swim. Actually, this was the only down side, we had only about an hour of swimming, the other activities included canoeing, caves, amazing views and eating on the boat. It was great but I definitely regret not adding a few more days to our trip to Phuket to enjoy the beach a little more!
After a lot of fun in the sun, including jumping off the tour boat, we were able to enjoy our last night in Phuket at the hotel and head to our next adventure: Bangkok.

And to finish this post, here is a view of our hotel, which made us feel so welcome and at home after almost one month traveling in Asia! I can’t wait to come back and when I do, I hope to stay there again! Thank you so much for having us Proud Phuket, you guys were the highlight of our trip to Thailand!
