My first time in Chiang Mai – Where to Stay – Akyra Manor Hotel

As you may know, the most incredible month exploring different parts of Asia is over  and I couldn’t wait to relive the experiences I had by sharing my favorite ones here on the blog. Let me start with Chiang Mai, which was our first stop in Thailand. Chiang Mai is an incredible place, it has a fast pace with “crazy” tuktuks, cabs and motorbikes all over…and all of a sudden is super chill, you turn and you find yourself in the middle of an amazing temple or maybe on a day trip to visit an elephant sanctuary! So to keep up with everything, choosing the right hotel was key to make the most of our days in the city and relax and get that “I’m on vacation” vibe that I needed so much.

Where to stay:

There are obviously different areas in Chiang Mai and to most of them you will eventually need a cab at some point. So minimizing that cost was important to us, even though transportation is pretty cheap in Thailand, we felt like money was disappearing quicker than in other places haha, especially in Chiang Mai with no metro system and an extreme hot weather. We decided to stay in the heart of the city at the Akyra Chiang Mai Hotel. We wanted to be able to walk to nice places at the end of the day (aka great restaurants and hopefully some shopping haha) and maybe have different spas to get an authentic Thai massage.  And that’s what we had by staying there.

The hotel is modern, sophisticated and so comfortable without losing the thai hospitality, the staff was super helpful, friendly and attentive to our needs, always on top of everything and made us feel at home and fall in love with Thailand even more! The hotel is located at the address: 22/2 Nimmana Haeminda Road Soi 9, Su Thep, Muang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai 50200, Thailand

Our room

Can I move there?! The room was amazing, beautiful and with everything I could think of: natural cotton gowns, slippers and amenity boxes, LCD TV with cable and IPTV, naturally sourced toiletries, oversized luxury towels, an espresso coffee machine, an iPod and iDock with a large music library and Bluetooth speakers, a fully-stocked mini bar and complimentary WiFi connectivity throughout the hotel.I can’t forget to mention how comfortable the bed was, we are talking about a 430-thread count Egyptian cotton sheets that made me not wanna leave the next morning!  The hotel is perfect for solo travelers, couples and family with two children. But the highlight of our room was the bathtub. SERIOUSLY!!!! What is this amazing bathtub with a view? I wanted to sleep in it! So of course I took a picture instead… you know, for Instagram purposes and inspiration for my future dream house!

Breakfast

A hotel that offers dairy-free milk in the morning wins my heart! I’ve been to several hotels where almond or soy milk weren’t an option so I smiled from ear to ear when I walked to the breakfast area and saw the “soy milk”bottle smiling at me. I know, it might seem like nothing to some people but to me, it’s like saying to the customer that they care about everyone’s needs and for that, I’m super grateful. The options were are reaaaally good, we got to chose from a menu and also serve ourselves from the breakfast counter. Breads, pastries, fruits, juices and much more! Perfect to get ready for a day out exploring the wonders of Chiang Mai – or going back to the room and enjoying the hotel’s amenities!

Pool and rooftop bar

We had a really short stay in Chiang Mai and one of the highlights of our trip was the hot afternoon we spent chilling at the hotel’s rooftop – where the swimming pool is located. It was amazing to see the day coming to an end and munching on some snacks with a gorgeous view! Cuz let me tell you, Chiang Mai is hot! You will dream about a swimming pool all the time  you’re not in one haha!  This pool was just what we needed!

Two days were too short for Chiang Mai but was so worth it and staying at the Akyra Manor was the best part of it, we felt so welcome and the location was perfect! Make sure to follow the hotel on Instagram, they are always sharing the best of the city and some news daily!  And check their website HERE for the most amazing rooms of Chiang Mai!
