Mill Valley: My favorite things to do and places to visit!
Can we talk about Mill Valley today? Yes! If you follow my adventures on instagram you may know that I recently came back from California and after catching up with work and unpacking, it was time to think about the great experiences I had to share with you on the blog before I start forgetting things. You know I loooove California, I’ve been there 9-10 times so far and I believe I’ll never get tired of it! But this time was more especial, It was Ryu’s first time in San Francisco so I decided to explore the bay area a little more and show him my favorite hidden spots (and our future hometown- yes, I’m talking to you, Tiburon!). So we booked a hotel in Mill valley, at the Mill Valley Inn, a boutique style hotel located in the heart of it all, minutes from some of my favorite places in the area.
Besides the great location, the hotel offers an experience that made me, to this day, smile whenever I think of it. Our room was sooo spacious and cozy, the bed and pillows extremely comfortable (you know I live for comfy beds!) and there was even a fire place just for us! Yes! And of course, this lovely balcony! The front desk was also extremely helpful and the service very personal, it was very hard to leave, believe me! So on today’s post I’m sharing not only our awesome stay but also some of my favorite things to do in the area. Scroll down for some tips and unforgetable adventures!
If you are planning a trip to the Mill Valley area, I highly recommend checking the Mill Valley Inn, it will add happy memories to your perfect California trip. And if you are looking for more tips and places to visit in the Bay Area, make sure to check their instagram HERE! The photos they post are soo dreamy!
The hotel also offers a complimentary deluxe breakfast with a variety of juices, teas, coffee, milk, pastries, fruits, yogurts, cereal and eggs! Well, there was probably more but my memory is failing me now! You can either have breakfast indoors or sit outside, it is so peaceful! There is also a business center/meeting room.
If you are in the Mill Valley area, here are some of my favorite things to do and places to visit:
Mill Valley, Point Reyes, Stinson Beach and Muir Woods National Monument
Mill Valley itself is a lovely town with great dining and shopping options. You can easily drive everywhere or walk around town, there is plenty to explore in the area and today I’m going to suggest three: Stinson Beach, Point Reyes and the Muir Woods National Monument. Point Reyes National Seashore (learn more HERE), is a beautiful and very popular destination for whale watching, it makes for a great day trip and it’s not far at all. You might also see some sea lions and its light house. Another great apot? Stinson Beach (learn more HERE), a beautiful beach with a local vibe. I also recommend stopping by Muir Woods National Monument (learn more HERE). After a day of beautiful views is time to head back to Mill Valley for a nice dinner and perhaps catching a movie in town? Below: Mill Valley, Point Reyes, Stinson Beach and Mill Valley. If you have more time, pay a visit to the Mount Tamalpais State Park.
Napa Valley
Napa Valley, where wine lovers go to and where the views are always oh, so beautiful! You can drive to Napa Valley and spend the day visiting their countless wineries. My recommendation is to visit the beautiful Castello di Amorosa, a castle where you can do a self guided tour, taste delicious wine and enjoy the view. The castle is located at 4045 Helena Highway, Calistoga, CA.
Sausalito
One of my favorite places in the world! I recommend walking around Sausalito, exploring the shops and restaurants and the gorgeous view of San Francisco. For a late lunch, go to Bar Bocce, a great spot by the water with the most beautiful sunset. Locals love it and it is perfect for drinks and happy hour.
Tiburon:
Another great small town in the bay area and the view of the Golden Gate and SF, are worth the visit. They also have this cute Main Street with restaurants and local shops, stop by dinner by the if you have time. You can also swing on the famous hippie tree swing, another spot to see the Golden Gate bridge and more of Tiburon. It’s a great photo op! Put this addres in your GPS: 120 Gilmartin Drive, Tiburon, CA, park your car and walk to the tree! Ah! If you have more time, pay a visit to Angel Island, it’s only a quick 10 minute ferry ride from Tiburon. And if you feel like staying the night in Tiburon, make sure to check the Waters Edge Hotel!
