My favorite things to do in Monterey (California!)
If there is a place in the world that I love unconditionally, this place is California! I couldn’t resist and today’s post is a throwback to one of my last days in Cali in 2015 (!!!), driving back to San Francisco, which is only 2 and a half hours away. We passed by Monterey again and stayed for a few hours, enough to fall in love with it again and again! And I can’t talk about Monterey without mentioning beautiful Carmel, another place that you must go, and I will be blogging about it soon! If you are planning to stay the night in Monterey, make sure to book a room at Portola Hotel & Spa, one of the best hotels in town, located in the center of it all and with great amenities, it made my last trip to monterey more memorable so I highly recommend it (click HERE to read more!)!
I’m not an expert in either but usually when I go there I try to absorb the most of the place, enjoy the weather, explore the streets and the variety of restaurants, with no plans at all. And that’t what I did this time too. It was cloudy and cold so swimming was not an option. So we walked around Steinbeck Plaza which is basically where it all happens: it has several shops and cool restaurants by the water so you can enjoy the peace and quite at the same time you’re surrounded by many people. Another thing you can not forget to do there is to walk around the the bay and visit the Monterey Aquarium, Lover’s Point, the Cannery Row Company, the Old Fisherman’s Wharf, some wineries in the area, and of course the 17-mile drive by the sea, connecting Monterey to Carmel and it’s so worth the drive, the scenery is breathtaking! And be sure to stop at Pebble Beach, the beach that lies between these two cities. If you have some time with you to spare, take a boat tour, it’s fun! I hope you enjoy the ride for me too!
