“I Heart New York”, by the British writer Lindsey Kelk
There are so many books talking about the amazing New York, I always have a hard time recommending some readings to you. What I really like about literary posts is that by looking for themes for my posts, I end up finding stuff I didn’t know before myself, like “I Heart New York”, by Lindsey Kelk. The book is the first of a series of six books. In Brazil, only the three first books have been published: “I heart New York”, “I Heart Hollywood” and “I Heart Paris” by the publisher Fundamento.
The narrative is about Angela, who has just found out her fiancé cheated on her and so she decides to fly to New York! While finding a place to stay, she meets Jenny, the receptionist. They become friends and Angela goes through a great change in her life and that was enough to get me interested in the book. Besides that, in the story the reader will be able to check a list with restaurants and other real places in NYC, like a tour guide! It’s a great option for those who are willing to go on a lovely adventure and “travel not only through monuments and museums”.
Synopsis: Get ready to meet Angela Clark as she feels the world’s worst wedding for a new life…
It’s official. Angela Clark is in love – with the most fabulous city in the world.
Fleeing her cheating boyfriend and clutching little more than a crumpled bridesmaid dress, a pair of Louboutins and her passport, Angela jumps on a plane, destination – NYC.
Holed up in a cute hotel room, Angela gets a New York makeover from her new best friend Jenny and a whirlwind tour of the city that never sleeps. Before she knows it, Angela is dating two sexy guys. And, best of all, she gets to write about it in her new blog (Carrie Bradshaw eat your heart out). But it’s one thing telling readers about your romantic dilemmas, it’s another figuring them out for yourself…
Angela has fallen head over heels for the big apple, but does she heart New York more than home?
Check the cover of the series “I Heart” (there are six books). Aren’t they adorable? The writer is English and I was dying to meet her. I read some interviews and found out she’s a sweetheart and cares a lot about what her readers think about her work. As a matter of fact, the series was going to be a trilogy at first and she ended up writing more books because her fans/readers asked her to! To learn more about her and her work, check her official website and follow her on instagram: @lindseykelk
She also has a Youtube Channel! I’m already following her there! In 2015, she was in New York and made a super cool vlog showing some of the places in NY that inspired her to write the book (and some are actually mentioned in it). I really liked the idea and I’m dying to find out some of the places she recommended!
