My New Fjall Raven bag and their NYC store

My New Fjall Raven bag and their NYC store

It all happened during my last trip to Iceland. Everywhere I looked… there was the Fjall Raven fox logo. Outdoors  and windy places. Downtown Reykjavik. Bars and restaurants. Airport… Coming back to NYC, it was just a matter of a few walks on the streets to see that they were also everywhere HERE! Times Square, subway stations, SoHo, Central Park, fancy designer stores. You name it. People with completely different styles rocking their bags, or in traditional swedish, Kankens.  Then I googled it and it was easy to understand why the kankens are taking the world by storm: Fjall Raven bags are functional, durable, timeless and even eco-friendly!
I’m always concerned about the amount of trash and products I consume and try as much as possible to limit the amount of waist in the world. I know many people might not think about it but when you purchase something that is durable and timeless, chances are that they won’t end up on a trash pile for many, maaaany years. And the durability of Fjall Raven products and their commitment with the environment are taken so seriously that they might even fix the product instead of having you purchase another item.

So that’s why I’m all about the kankens now but it is hard not to want one of each color. So I decided to get this one (picture above) which is a special edition and it was created for a great cause: to save the arctic fox, which is in risk of extinction! Fjällräven is arctic fox in Swedish. So they raise money to protect this precious animal through sales of products marked with The Arctic Fox Initiative logo and through in-store and event activities. So to me it was a no-brainer on which bag to get.

I just got my Kanken so I can’t really tell you if the bag is durable or not but reading reviews and of course, checking the bag I can tell we will be partners in adventures for a long time! Ant it is water resistant so couldn’t be more excited to bring it to hiking trips as well.

Fjall Raven has two stores in NYC, in SoHo and in Nolita: 38 Greene St, New York and 262 Mott St, New York. The store also has an instagram, click HERE to follow them!
