Weekend is here, which means brunch, late dinner, lunch with your friends… So I selected 5 options that will definitely make you happy! From international cuisines to your favorite junk food, here are my top 5 for this week! If you want more NYC tips make sure to follow me on instagram (@marthasachser AND @blognyandabout)! See you next time!
Taverna Kyclades
Known as one of the best Greek restaurants in New York, the first Kyclades Taverna is located in Astoria, the heart of the Greek community in New York. Specializing in fresh seafood, the menu is simple but has everything you expect to find in a traditional Greek restaurant: informality and good food! Although a little out of the tourist track, Astoria is worth visiting, it is an vibrant area full of restaurants, bars with a quieter vibe than Manhattan, young people and by subway it takes only 15 minutes from Midtown! I recommend going for lunch when is usually not as busy. Check their official website HERE! The address for the Manhattan unit is 228 1st Avene, New York and the Astoria one is 33-07 Ditmars Blvd, Astoria, NY.
By Chloe
Vegetarian for almost her whole life and vegan for ten years, Chloe Coscarelli became known worldwide after participating in the reality show “Cupcake Wars” and was the first vegan chef to win a cooking competition on national television. After the success she has published three books: Chloe’s Kitchen (2012); Chloe’s Vegan Desserts (2013) & Chloe’s Vegan Italian Kitchen (2014), all on the bestseller list. In 2014 the partnership with ESquared Hospitality happened and she is committed to bring to New York healthy plant based organic food, free of cruelty and of course, delicious! By Chloe is a huge success and a delight to be follow on all social media platforms too! The restaurant serves desserts, brunch, ice cream, juices, breakfast and good food all day long! They just opened a new location around Madison Square Park on 22nd Street and there is another one in the making. To get to the West Village location, the , which is my favorite, the address is: 185 Bleecker Street, New York, NY. Click HERE to check the official website!
Tijuana Picnic
The super trendy Tijuana Picnic brings sophistication and an asian-mexican fusion menu impossible to resist! You will find tortilla soup with chinese dumpling, grilled cheese, pork ribs with thai sauce and much more! The Tijuana Picnic is located at 151 Essex St, New York, NY.
Veselka
If you’ve seen “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist”, then you already know Veselka. In the movie, the characters played by Kat Dennings and Michael Cera spend a crazy night in New York and meet up around 4am in this diner. Yep, Veselka is opne 24 hours, with a varied menu served all day. Their specialty is ukranian comfort food, with jewish typical recepies. By the way, there you can hear the the jewish accents of regular costumers, like Fran Fine and her family’s from “The Nanny”. Located at East Village, Manhattan by other ukranian stores, Veselka is open since 1954 and is never empty. How to get there: take the subway to Astor Place or 8st-NYU station. The Veselka is located on 144 2nd Ave, New York, NY.
Bareburger
This is my favorite fast food place in town. Well, it’s not actually a fast food place, one of my favorite locations are the ones in Astoria with wither a backyard or tables outside to enjoy the beautiful summer days. I can it my favorite junk food place because it serves everything I want in one: burgers, regular and sweet potato fries, milkshakes and the delicious onion rings! they’ve got amazing salads too. Can’t go wrong with Bareburger. And it doesn’t stop there: it’s an organic restaurant, so you can have some sort of peace of mind even while enjoying all the (super worth it) calories from their delicious sandwiches! It’s also a great option for vegans and vegetarians like me! They have awesome options on the menu including some gluten free dishes! There are many locations in the different boroughs of NYC, but this one is located at 366 W 46th St, New York, NY 10036.
