Hello, Amarillo (TX)! – Having fun at the Cadillac Ranch!
I know, I know. I had already suggested places to visit in Amarillo, but I thought I should talk about this one specifically, since it was definitely a highlight of my trip. I would see the picture of the Cadillac Ranch on the internet, look at the name and try to understand how, when and where it became what it is. The “farm” where the sculpture of 10 Cadillac’s is shows their evolution and was created in 1974, all in their original color. As time went on, the visitors started to graffiti the Cadillac’s and today this practice is totally encouraged. You can even buy your own spray paint at a gift shop nearby… Or if you’re lucky enough, you can find used ones on the floor! (Which I did). Even though I went there in the wintertime and the cold wind did not allow me to stay out for as long as I wanted to, I was still able to leave my mark.
