You know I am always looking for great restaurants in NYC to try and share with you. And since the demand for vegan and vegetarian options is growing, I am pleased to inform that today I am bringing vegan food at its best. I had the pleasure to dine at Red Bamboo, a cozy and casual restaurant in the heart of Wets Village, right by the West 4 subway stop. The restaurant opened its doors in 2002 and it is a classic in NY, offering a generous menu with international options, from Philly cheesesteaks to teriyaki chicken and asian dumplings! And dessert, make sure you leave room for that!
What we ordered:
Red Bamboo is also well known for its mock meat dishes so we decided to go all the way and try those as well. And Let me tell you, they did not disappoint! We ordered their famous Barbecue Buffalo Wings (a bit spicy but sooo good) Asian steamed dumplings, Coconut Chicken and my favorite, Chicken Parmesan (my favorite!). For dessert, an Oreo Cheesecake and a float with Coke and vanilla ice cream.
Cant beat it! In the heart of West Village, one of my favorite spots in the city, surrounded by great bars, live music, comedy clubs, Washington Square Park and the unique West Village atmosphere!
I was surprised by how affordable it is, especially considering the amount of mock meat options, which sometimes tend to be a bit more on the expensive size or be in smaller portions. Everything was on point, most starters were less than U$10 and the most famous entrées were between U10 and U$15. The portions were the perfect size in my opinion.
Is it worth it?
Absolutely! Great menu options, great price and great food! The restaurant is cozy and the atmosphere is super casual, making it perfect for a get together with friends, family or a romantic and fun date!
Red Bamboo is now one of my favorite vegan restaurants and I can’t wait to go back and share more with you! It is located at 140 West 4th Street. Click HERE to check their menu and official website!
Parmesan Chicken, make sure to order it! It can be served with regular cheese or non-dairy cheese, which was the one I ordered. Soo good!
Another shot of the Barbecue Buffalo Wings … One of our favorites!
